Vanished

It is a bright sunny day and the world has just ended. I am alone in my home and worried because Tom has vanished.

I go to another house, the place I saw him last. The family who lives there is panicking because they have also lost someone. In the exact spot where Tom and the other person disappeared is a weird looking telephone and a small plank of wood standing up on one end. I pick up the phone to call Tom's mobile. It is like one of those baby-toy steering wheels but made from metal, all tattered and scratched. When I dial the number the phone goes crazy and starts to writhe in my hands as though it is alive. I press a big 'cancel' button but it doesn't work. I drop the phone and it and the plank of wood both fall into exactly the same positions they were in to start with. The family cry, "Look! Look!" and spray the objects with glue so that no one else can move them.

Tom has vanished. He is either in another dimension somewhere. Or just. Gone.

There and Then Gone Again

Tom and I are on holiday with separate groups of friends. We just want to be together and keep bumping into each other. But I keep losing him.

I meet him at the beach one time and we swim in the sea. The water is bright blue but the waves are rough and the floor is concrete and painful. We are separated again as he is washed further down the shore.

I am staying at someone’s house and I can’t find the bathroom. What I thought was a bathroom turns out to be just an unattached shower and toilet in a garage. In this garage there are also kayaks and sheets of tarpaulin.

I eventually find the real bathroom.

I Am Forgotten

Tom and I have to part, both knowing that he will soon forget who I am. But it is something we have to do for the good of mankind in the dawn of the apocalypse that is upon us.

I walk along a dusty road in a barren red desert. I have travelled a long way and I'm tired. I am looking for Tom. He wont know who I am but I hope despairingly that he will fall in love with me again. All hints of the sun are disappearing and I see a small farming town up ahead, machinery is silhouetted against the grey blue sky.

As I look up I see the most beautiful shooting star. It starts from nothing and glows brighter as it falls. I expect it to fade to nothing as usual, but it gets brighter and bigger until I realize it is falling straight towards me.

A rusty object like an old plane propeller crashes into the ground, dust and debris cast into the air. Then another appears, and another. It is raining giant hunks of metal.

I panic and start to run. It feels like the end of the world.

A kind passer by in a big American pick up truck stops for me and we drive to the town. I find Tom living in a hostel. It is scummy and jaded. He lets me stay with him in his room but he doesn’t know who I am.

I ask him where the bathroom is and he tells me he doesn’t know. Then he says it's at the end of the corridor. I find it but a small flight of stairs has been build over the doorway, leading to nowhere. The gap between the top of the stairs and the top of the door frame is too small to climb through. Eventually I find another bathroom.

Back in the room I plead with tom, ‘I don’t want to wait. I love you.’

‘I love you too,’ he says - but looks confused.

A Consequence of Travelling

In 2005 I travelled around the world with my now husband, Tom. There were so many times that we couldn't find a toilet, or if we could it was horrifically grotty or lacking in privacy, that I was quite traumatized by the whole experience. For four years now I have dreamt about not being able to find a suitable latrine in which to powder my nose.

At first I dreamt about this almost every night but lately the dreams are becoming fewer, and now often I find a loo in the end - so I think I must be recovering!

From the Past

Dreams I had when I was little...

It is my birthday. I am Wonder Woman. Not dressed up as Wonder Woman - I am Wonder Woman. All my superhero friends are coming to my party. Superman comes, Spiderman, Batman, He-Man; all the greats. It is the best party ever.

I am asleep in my bed when I am woken by an intense fear. I realise I have done something wrong and the devil is coming to take me to Hell. I run. He is chasing me. I go from room to room trying to escape. He is made out of electricity, fuzzy and glowing. He makes a crackling noise as he moves.

I am horse riding in the forest with my brother and a few others. Dusk makes my vision uncertain as the woods begin to darken. Suddenly the horses become frightened as though there is a lightening storm. They are skittish and want to bolt but we don't let them. Then I see what they are afraid of; a ball of flames hovers across the sky and stops just before us. It is like a tiny sun, a beach ball engulfed in flames. It begins to split in two and I can see that inside there is a layer of meat - like a scotch egg. Blood pours out.

I am walking along a path in the countryside when I am attacked. Two men are there. I am pushed to the floor and one of the men lifts a huge rock above his head and crashes it down onto my skull. I am dead. But I am trapped in my body and I know I will be for ever. I can't see or talk or move but I can hear. I am put on the back of a pick-up truck.
